My Daughter Sarah and I booked the Cabin for Aug 6, 7th 2024. We hiked up to the cabin with our beloved Aussie Trooper. It took us about 2hrs and 45min. The trial up is a double track well marked and well graded. Lots of Huckleberries for us to eat on the way up, while we caught our breath. The cabin itself is a little gem, water runs to a underground pipe to the basement of the cabin, which makes it easy to gather. The propane stove was easy to use with a self igniter. The porch area is bug screened in, which made it nice to sit outside in the mornings and have a coffee and breath some of that wonderful mountain air. The wood stove was great for getting our equipment dried out (stopped feeding wood at 4 ish), and the cabin stayed warm with the residual heat from the stove right through till morning. The cabin is fully furnished with pots, pans, cups, utensils, bedding, all that you needed to have a comfortable stay. The hike to the Meadow and Peak is well marked and the path across the slide has been filled in with rock like steps to the far side. We spent 5hrs hiking around the meadows and peaks as Trooper ran around trying to catch the pikas, no such luck but it kept him busy. After cleaning the cabin up, the hike down was much more timely than the way up. We cruised down in about 1.5 hrs. It was a great get away and the Hosts were very nice to deal with. I will definitely be back. Regards Rob

What a wonderful winter stay! A fantastic ski in, the track up was kept in great condition. Beautiful cabin, comfortable and cozy. We loved our stay in this secluded spot. It is obvious how much hard work has gone into creating this amazing experience for others to share, thanks to some very gracious hosts. A highly recommended stay!

We returned to Hermit Thrush cabin this weekend for our 10th anniversary. Our first visit was 9 years ago, this experience was just as magical. We had all the comforts of home but with complete solitude and all the adventure you could ask for. The cabin and mountain are really special and we hope to return sooner next time.

On December 22nd, my wife and oldest daughter and I skied up to the cabin. It was a beautiful sunny winter day and even though it was -35 when we left the Truck the trail up was pleasant and warming. The cabin is amazing and very comfortable and roomy for three people. Even with the brisk temperatures the wood stove quickly warmed the cabin up. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking items and we were able to prepare many good meals without having to carry cooking utensils. Extra bonus is the tasty spring water for drinking and cooking beneath the cabin. We enjoyed 2.5 days and two nights relaxing and backcountry skiing in McKirdy Meadows. I especially enjoyed walking around the cabin looking at the great care and ingenuity involved in the construction of it. Staying at Hermit Thrush Cabin was an amazing experience and the highlight of our skiing trip to the Rockies over Christmas. I can hardly wait to stay there again and I want to say many Thanks to Ann and Gordon!

This was our second time to the Hermit Thrush Cabin. We love it there. About a year and a half ago we went to the cabin in late June. The snow had melted and the hiking was easy. A short hike from the cabin are alpine meadows with magnificent views of Mt Robson and the Selwyn range. Our more recent trip was in early January. The area around the cabin is spectacularly beautiful in the winter. The cabin's wood stove kept us warm and cozy. (Wood and kindling provided.) The cabin itself is wonderfully supplied. There's a stove, oven, running water in the basement that can be taken up to the kitchen sink, every kitchen utensil, pots, pans, plates, cups, bowls, cutlery and more. Every thing you will need to cook basic or gourmet meals. The cabin is incredibly well-stocked. It has an electrical system using solar panels to run lights and other things. The lights were every much appreciated during the long nights of our winter visit. My family loves the Hermit Thrush Cabin and the surrounding environment. We will be back!

The hike/ski in is well-maintained and the perfect opportunity for a cozy backcountry adventure. The views from the cabin are spectacular and there are a couple of easy trails to alpine. This is a special spot!

We thought we were in shape before we started the hike but were proved wrong. Walking lots on the prairies is completely different than walking in the mountains. We adapted a slow steady pace with many breaks and words of encouragement to each other. Finally we arrived at the absolutely wonderful cabin with a gorgeous view. Thank you Ann and Gordon for building this cabin and sharing it with so many. M & P

Thank you so much Ann & family for opening up your wonderful cabin to us and all the other guests. For us, it is a rare opportunity to experience these magical surroundings (and each other's company) without the distractions of technology etc. R & O

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely gem of a cabin! Gordon and Ann are wonderful hosts. A highlight was our hike and tour of the spectacular meadows and surrounding peaks and seeing Ann's camp. Than you for making this special place available.

Feb 11-14 We were not as conditioned as we would have like to be for a winter hiking and we over packed ( a lot of wine) By km 4 we thought we might actually die and be found frozen on the side of the trail like Jack Nicholson at the end of "The Shining" ( a long and scary movie) It took us 4 hours to make it to the cabin, but we did it! After trembling and twitching for a bit, we loosened up and gained the strength to give each other a hi-five: Later we had a lovely dinner, including some of our hard earned wine, and enjoyed the amazing views!
