On December 22nd, my wife and oldest daughter and I skied up to the cabin. It was a beautiful sunny winter day and even though it was -35 when we left the Truck the trail up was pleasant and warming. The cabin is amazing and very comfortable and roomy for three people. Even with the brisk temperatures the wood stove quickly warmed the cabin up. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking items and we were able to prepare many good meals without having to carry cooking utensils. Extra bonus is the tasty spring water for drinking and cooking beneath the cabin. We enjoyed 2.5 days and two nights relaxing and backcountry skiing in McKirdy Meadows. I especially enjoyed walking around the cabin looking at the great care and ingenuity involved in the construction of it. Staying at Hermit Thrush Cabin was an amazing experience and the highlight of our skiing trip to the Rockies over Christmas. I can hardly wait to stay there again and I want to say many Thanks to Ann and Gordon!
