What a treat! Our family of 3 booked the Hermit Thrush cabin for 3 nights over the New Year. We decided to snowshoe rather than ski due to the steep grade and dense forest. We are all reasonably fit, but were tired when we finally arrived. All worthwhile to stay in such a sweet place! The cabin warmed quickly after we kindled a fire, there was plenty of firewood, and it took very little to keep the cabin warm. We enjoyed the picture window view of Mt McKirdy changing in colour and shade every hour. It was a treat to have mattresses and pillows with clean linens to spread our sleeping bags on. The insulated box and water pipe under the cabin kept our food fresh and made getting water simple. Evenings were filled with new board games, moonlit snowshoeing and story telling. The climb up to the lookout above the meadow is a must. Our view of Mt Robson was almost cloudless, and the mountains in all directions were spectacular. Huge thanks to Ann and Gordon for providing this special place. Hope to be back soon!
